Technology at the service of your water

The AcquaStream purifier brings a reverse-osmosis system into your kitchen: the mains water, already drinkable and already tested, is filtered, remineralised and made available from your tap, still or sparkling.

How the AcquaStream purifier works

The AcquaStream system uses reverse-osmosis technology to treat the water in your home. It is a controlled process that gives back water low in dissolved salts, light in taste, meant for everyday family use: for drinking, for coffee and for cooking.

It works in three stages, designed around the taste of the water and the convenience of using it every day:

Purifying the water

Reverse osmosis is a filtration system that pushes water through a semi-permeable membrane: the membrane holds back most of the dissolved salts and suspended particles, and what reaches the tap is water low in salinity.

Natural remineralisation

After filtration the water is remineralised with added calcium, magnesium and potassium. That makes it more pleasant to drink and suited to everyday use.

Carbonation to taste

The purified water is ready to use at home and, thanks to the carbonator included in the fee*, you can choose whether to drink it still or sparkling.

* The first CO₂ cylinder is supplied with the installation; the refills after it are yours to pay.

What the analysis of AcquaStream water says

Analysis by a laboratory accredited by ACCREDIA, the Italian accreditation body

The water coming out of the AcquaStream system has been through laboratory analysis, which describes its composition. Here are the declared values, with an explanation of what each parameter measures: use them to compare with the label on the bottled water you usually buy.

Mains water in Italy is drinkable and tested as the law requires: the system changes its composition and its taste, it does not make it «drinkable».

Dry residue at 180° — 14 mg/L

The dry residue is the quantity of mineral salts and substances left dissolved in the water, measured after evaporation at 180 °C. At 14 mg/L the water falls among those that, in the classification used for mineral waters, are called «minimally mineralised» (below 50 mg/L): the taste is light.

Sodium — 1.4 mg/L

How much sodium is left dissolved in the water our system filters. This is the figure to compare with the «sodium» line on the label of your bottled water.

H+ ion concentration — pH 7.4

The pH measures how acid or alkaline the water is: 7 is the neutral point, and 7.4 is just above it. The drinking-water regulations set a range between 6.5 and 9.5.

Potassium — 1 mg/L

Our purified water contains a small amount of potassium, put back during remineralisation along with calcium and magnesium.

Nitrates — 0.95 mg/L

Nitrates are one of the parameters the law monitors in drinking water, with a limit of 50 mg/L. In the water leaving the system the analysis measured 0.95 mg/L.

Calcium — 2.8 mg/L

How much calcium is left dissolved in the water. Calcium is one of the minerals behind water hardness and limescale: a low figure also means less limescale in the kettle and in the coffee machine.

Choose your water. Drink it knowing what is in it.

With our subscription service you have reverse-osmosis water straight from the tap, still or sparkling, without buying, carrying and disposing of bottles.

AcquaStream reverse-osmosis water purification

AcquaStream reverse-osmosis water purification is a subscription service: the system stays ours and you have it on free loan for use, and we take care of filters, servicing and support for as long as you are subscribed.

Why more and more households purify the water at home

The water from the tap is drinkable by law and is tested regularly by the network operator. Many households, though, do not drink it — because of the taste, the smell of chlorine or the limescale — and end up buying bottled water: crates to carry home, plastic to dispose of, stocks to keep. Purifying the water at the tap lets you choose the composition of the water you drink every day, without bottles.

How to bring purified water into your home, with no building work and nothing to think about

Choosing AcquaStream for purified water at home is straightforward and holds no surprises. After the first contact we check that the service reaches your address and that the system can be fitted in your kitchen; then a qualified technician installs it behind the kitchen plinth or, where necessary, under the sink — in both cases discreetly and out of sight.

The worktop does not have to be drilled: the existing tap can be replaced with a three-way one, or you can choose a separate single tap with a small mounting hole. You have 30 days' free trial, with nothing paid up front; if you stay, from day 31 you pay €29.90 a month plus €120 for the installation, once only. Filters, servicing and support are in the fee.

FAQ – water and health: the questions people ask

What is reverse osmosis and how does it work?

Reverse osmosis is a filtration system that pushes water, under pressure, through a semi-permeable membrane. The membrane lets the water through and holds back most of the dissolved salts and particles. The result is water low in salinity, which in the AcquaStream system is then remineralised with calcium, magnesium and potassium.

Does reverse osmosis hold back microplastics?

Microplastics are fragments of plastic smaller than 5 millimetres, often down to the scale of micrometres. The pores of a reverse-osmosis membrane are far smaller than those particles and the membrane works as a physical barrier: that is why it is regarded as one of the domestic filtration methods that hold back suspended particles best. How much it holds back in practice depends on the water going in and on the state of the filters, which is why we replace them on a schedule.

What are the benefits of reverse-osmosis water?

Reverse-osmosis water that has been remineralised has a light composition, with few dissolved salts and a neutral taste that many people prefer for coffee, tea and cooking too. The concrete advantages are practical ones: water always ready at the tap, still or sparkling, no crates to carry and less plastic to dispose of.

Is reverse-osmosis water suitable for the whole family?

It is drinking water, meant for everyday use at home. For choices to do with infants, pregnancy or particular diets, the person to ask is your doctor or your paediatrician: we are glad to give you the analysis figures to show them.

Can drinking purified water cause a mineral deficiency?

The minerals the body needs come mainly from food, in quantities far larger than water can supply. Within a balanced diet, then, the mineral content of water makes little difference. If you have particular medical advice, ask your doctor.

Does water meet the daily requirement for calcium?

The average requirement for calcium is around 1000 mg a day. Even a water considered «rich» supplies around 100–150 mg per litre, an amount that can contribute only a small part of the daily total. The main sources of calcium therefore remain foods: milk and yoghurt, cheese, green leafy vegetables, pulses and nuts.

Is the sodium in water good for you?

In a modern diet sodium comes mostly from processed food and added salt; water usually supplies a small share of it. The sodium figure is in any case shown on the label of every bottled water, and the AcquaStream analysis reports 1.4 mg/L: if your doctor has advised you about sodium, you can show them this figure.

Is the magnesium in water enough for the daily requirement?

The average requirement for magnesium in an adult is around 300–400 mg a day. Water can contain small amounts (20–50 mg per litre), but generally not enough to cover a significant part of the daily requirement. The contribution of water is limited compared with what comes from a balanced diet rich in wholegrains, pulses, green leafy vegetables, nuts and cocoa.

Does drinking mineral-rich water have a nutritional function?

Water mainly hydrates. According to the WHO and the scientific community, the minerals in it can contribute a small part of the daily requirement, but they are not a significant nutritional source. Essential minerals come above all from food.

Is water rich in salts the healthier choice?

There is no single water that is better than all others. Waters very rich in salts can be indicated in specific situations, while for everyday drinking many people prefer light waters, low in dry residue. The choice depends on taste and, if you have particular needs, on what your doctor tells you.
